I needed a small thermometer to use in making yogurt - particularly since some of my recipes required "cooking" first. This particular model is small, about 6 inches long and the face is about the size of a quarter, so it fits nicely in my silverware drawer.
It responds rapidly to measure the temperature, and it is easy to read. You should be aware that it only goes up to boiling for water, so if you need a candy thermometer, this probably isn't the one you want.

I purchased 4 of the Polder 513 Analog Thermometers for my son's science project, after reading other reviews. The thermometers were left outside for two weeks in different covered jars of water and were not affected by the elements. The dials are small, but easy enough for a 8 year-old and a 45 year-old to read. I would purchase this item again.

Great kitchen thermometer at a great price. We just ordered 10 more for our child's second grade class. They use them to measure the soil temperature in the school vegetable garden. The kids use them easily- a nice component in the food science curriculum.
