Like another review, I found my unit to be 25 degrees off after also burning a batch of candy. There is no calibration nut, or as far as I know, no way to calibrate. Truly a piece of junk!!!!!!!!

The sunbeam unit is not accurate. I attempted to use to make candy and had to throw the candy out. I took another unit I had I knew was good and the sunbeam unit was off 10 to 15 degrees! Don't buy this product. I agree should less than 1 star!

Is there a rating less than one star? This thing is garbage. The head unit with the dial is only somewhat crimped to the very thin - walled flimsy probe. The top was swiveling on the probe portion which made the needle useless. If you spun the probe by hand, the needle would turn inside the dial area rendering the whole thing entirely useless right out of the box. This thing is junk. Save your cash unless you want to turn it upside down and use it as a meal ticket spike at a diner.

I had high hopes for this thermometer, it is listed as a Sunbeam product, and has a simple large character display. The problem is that in a little less than two months the indicator needle has come loose and just spins freely on the spindle. The return and post paid shipping for replacement under warranty are the same as the cost of the unit. Oh well hoping I have better luck with a Cuisinart thermometer.

Try to find a better one. My oven takes about 8 to 10 minutes to reach 400 this thermometer takes 15-20 minutes to reach 350 it shows my oven is not hot enough even though food is burning, so I know it is not accurate. I have never seen a thermometer take so long to register a temperature. Its also a pain cause it doesn't stand up without constantly falling over, & hanging it always falls off the hook with little vibration.

I clipped this onto the wire rack in my oven and can actually read it without opening the door. I compared it with a digital probe type and both read about the same temp. Seems worth the money to me.
