Technical Details

- Combination infrared and fold-out probe thermometer. Features Min/Max, adjustable emissivity, and switches from °C to °F. Probe folds away for protection. Measuring Range: -27°F to 428°F, -33°C to 220°C
- Perfect for food service, production and lab work. We based this handy pocket unit on our popular Thermapen shape. Push one button to read infrared. Push another to read the probe. You won't have to train anybody on the buttons, everybody gets it.
- The 3:1 optics easily beat the 1:1 competition. The pointed penetration probe folds into the side of the meter for storage. The type K thermocouple gives speedy results.
- The simple mode button will easily switch between Max, Min, and °C/°F. The default emissivity setting of 0.95 covers most applications but you can readily change the emissivity by 0.01 increments so you can read virtually any material's surface. This is a terrific value and it's fun to use! Scan for immediate surface temperatures or fold-out the probe and get an accurate internal temperature in seconds.
- With infrared and probe measuring capabilities, the Combo Thermapen by ThermoWorks is the ideal thermometer for use in a professional kitchen or the home. The infrared sensor is located at the top of the thermometer while the metal probe extends from the bottom. The infrared sensor reads with 3:1 optics and ± 2% accuracy. Designed after the classic Thermapen, the probe of the Combo Thermapen folds away into the side of the meter for compact storage; it even fits in a shirt or chef's coat pocket so the Combo Thermapen is useful and portable. Easy to operate and read, each measuring feature - infrared or probe- is activated by a different button, with both able to measure in Fahrenheit or Celsius ranging from -27°F to 428°F (-33°C to 220°C) with extreme accuracy. so far it's been amazing.



the probe is very quick at reading the temp with decimal accuracy!

the IR is almost instantaneous and also fun to use with others while cooking..



i still havent mastered all the controls as there are only 3 buttons for a handful of features. it's supposed to be simplifying things but i beg to differ. BUT you can do the basics (ie read somethings temp) without even looking at the manual.

The instant read thermometer is great. The operation is really simple. The infrared option is a little less useful in the kitchen. Usually I don't care about the surface temperature, but fun to have the option. We found out which person at our barbeque is the "hottest"... We're very pleased!

Foodies know that the proper temperature is the key to cooking. Relying on the "feel" of the meat has never got me very far but the temperature never lies. These thermometers are the best at quickly and accurately reading the temperature.



Taking a New York, Rib Eye or Filet off at 131 and letting it sit for 5 minute will yield a perfect steak every time. Once you learn the temps for each type of meat, you will never over or under cook your meat again.

Fast, accurate and easy to use. The only problem with the Thermapen is that if you get certain parts a little wet it has to completely dry before it can be used again.

Loved mine but it got RAINED on and stopped working! Go the the Thermapen site. This model is only $74 now, but they have a WATERPROOF one for $96, worth the extra money. It is a fantastic device!!

Our last kitchen thermometer finally gave out, and the battery could not be replaced. So I decided to splurge, and was rewarded by finding the Thermapen $10-15 cheaper, including shipping. Go to the Thermaworks website to purchase this for $74, any color. A new splash-proof model is out that is $96, so they're discounting the original model.

I knew about this for a few years but kept resisting the relatively high cost. I bought a few "instant" thermometers along the way, but they all failed miserably at being "instant."



You really can't comprehend how useful it is to have such a quick temp reading until you cook with one of these. Like another reviewer said - this would make an incredible gift, because lots of people would love to have this (they may not realize this until they use it a few times), but not many would pay the high price for "just a thermometer."
