I already had a portable food scale, but wanted one for the kitchen. Awesome, performs as promised. High capacity (unlike my portable) very space efficient & I like the clock feature. Wireless connection works flawlessly.



Only drawback (for me) is it reads pounds, ounces and fractional ounces (when not in metric mode). I prefer decimal ounces. Does read decimal grams.

I purchased this item thinking it would serve as both a kitchen clock and a kitchen scale. It's a nice idea. Basically you hang the whole thing on the wall, then when you want to weigh something you remove the outside ring (with a glass cover), set it on the counter, and the clock on the wall becomes the readout for the scale. They are even nice enough to include all 7 AAA batteries!



What I didn't realize was that the unit needs to sit directly above the location where you're going to use the scale because it uses an rfid technology and the two have to have a direct sight line between them. In my kitchen the clock sits on a wall that doesn't have a counter beneath it, and I didn't think it would be practical to weigh things on the floor.



The other thing I didn't care for was that the clock was hard to read. It has black numbers on a grey background which you can make out if the room is very bright, but not at all in dim light. And you can't really view it from an angle. You almost have to be standing directly in front of it to read the time and temperature. When you're weighing something this lovely blue light is activated that pretty much solves any readability issues, but as soon as you're done with the scale, it goes back to being dark. The package is a little misleading since it shows the numbers on a bright blue background. I figured that's how the clock would look.



So, if you're looking for a digital kitchen scale, and you have a spot on the wall directly above where you like to weigh things, and you don't really care about being able to read the time and temperature, it might work for you!



My suggestions to the manufacturer; make the clock more readable and use bluetooth technology so the scale can be placed further from the clock.

Got it as a gift and really had to play with it to get it to work. Finally got some fairly good readings. Put it away, and the next time the batteries were dead. So much for the auto shut off feature. Put new batteries in it and really had to play with it to get it to work. Never got a consistent reading. This time I took the batteries out afterward. What a hassle. Didn't matter, next time I couldn't get it to work at all. Gave it one star because the site would not let me give it none.

This is an absolutely useless device. It is completely inaccurate. Actually, I think I've never, ever seen a digital device that is so blatantly inaccurate, and I own dozens of gadgets of all sorts. I tested it several times, comparing temperature measurements to a Pyrex cooking thermometer we've had for over 6 years (and which I know is very accurate because of the results I've seen for so long), and the RediFork is always, absolutely a-l-w-a-y-s off mark. Actually, if you use it to take measurements a few times, one after the other, you never get the same temperature! I am not sure if Maverick simply does not have quality control and I got a broken one, but I am sure that I will avoid this brand from now on. In fact, I just bought a cooking thermometer today with my father, who fell in love with our Pyrex thermometer, and we had to go to a couple of stores because the first stores that we visited happened to only have Maverick thermometers. I am not even returning this useless device... it is going directly to the garbage can, where it belongs.

Unit never functioned. Checked the batteries and they were good. Even in water at 170.F it showed the below range indication. Read the instructions again, removed the forks and reinstalled them, nothing works. David

I had one of these when they first came out and loved it. This one is even better. I would say it's a must have for someone that has trouble getting a steak medium rare. Since purchasing this item, I once again have the perfect steak. I am so glad I found this fork again. I am one happy person.

This device is massive compared to most digital thermometers. The copper tip is as long as a steak is thick. You can't possibly use this for anything small. It will work for a roast, but not everyday things.

I got this instant-read thermometer primarily to check internal temp of artisinal breads, but it soon replaced my meat thermometer. It is so quick and, in side-by-side test with my trusty old dial thermometer, it was very accurate. My only issue with it is that it sometimes - not always - wants to read the room temperature for an extended time. That means that I have to remove the battery when storing it in order to save battery life. Minor inconvenience, but it would rate five stars otherwise.

I love this thermometer! The neatest part about it is that you can watch it go from rare to medium to well done. It is very accurate. I had a Maverick thermometer before and loved it, but my husband put it in the sink in dishwater. DO NOT PUT THIS THERMOMETER IN WATER! The thermometer I had before was a small one, but this is a nice size. You can check a single burger or a chicken breast on a George Foreman Grill, plus you can check a roast in the oven or a pork chop on the grill. In this day and age where meat needs to be done, what a wonderful cooking tool to have.
