It works ok, but if I had realized how small the dial was I would have opted for one that had a bigger dial or a digital read. I would recommend going to a local store where you can see it in person.

I've owned my fryer for 4 years and this product has performed it's function very well. I like to brine my turkeys and it fits inside the 5 gallon water coolers used by construction workers that are easily found at Lowe's or Home Depot. When I get ready to cook, I pull the bird out of the cooler, pour off the brine and then put the bird back in so it can drain and come up to room temperature without any worries of animals or bugs getting to the raw food. The coolers are easy to clean and sanitize for the next time.



Yes, I would like it to be a little more sturdy because it does bend. I fry 16 or more 11lb turkeys a year and I haven't had any major issues. Matter of fact I am ordering 3 more from Bayou Classics website, just to make the job of frying 4 turkeys at a time easier.

The turkey stand is made of a super soft alunium that bends very easiy. It will not hold a 5lb chicken up straight. It folds over with a 10lb turkey sitting on it. More like a turkey recliner. The ideal is good but not a QUALITY product. The injector kit is great and the thermometer is the ONLY usefull items in this kit.

I purchased this for 2 reasons: 1) a cheap pot to brew beer in, 2) a nice large pot to use for turkey frying or shrimp.

I haven't tried it out for cooking, but for beer brewing it worked pretty well. It is nice and large so there is not much concern of a boil-over. The only negative is it is a cheaper quality so it does lose heat fast. Stainless steel would be ideal but much more expensive.

Great Fry Kit. Used it over Thanksgiving. Works great. Easy clean up, burnt on debris just wiped off with a scrubbing spounge. Don't really know if that is the pot or just luck, but pots I've cleaned in the past have been a nightmare. Only ding I would give it is that if you have a large bird the piece that goes up through the center of the bird is kind of short and you will be fishing for it inside the bird to pull it out. Other than that pretty perfect.

I bought three of these. One for my refrigerator, one for the freezer and one for my big freezer that is outside. The thermometers work fine. They are very hard to put in. The included suction cups are hard to mount and they don't stick. If you get them to stick, they won't stay long. The metal hooks on the back work much better, but they still don't fit well. They would probably work fine hooked on a regular refrigerator rack. Mine has a piece over the front that prevents me from hanging it there. My only option is to use the door area, but I had to force it on, bending the metal brackets out a bit.

As has been my experience with other Taylor products, this is a solidly constructed dial thermometer. The dial measures 2 3/4" in diameter and provides easy to see readings in the range of 120°F to 212°F. The thermometer is pretty well-sealed and I have no instances where water leaked into the thermometer while it was being cleaned.



I've used this primarily for oven-cooked meat dishes and the temperature readings have been pretty much on the mark. Note that proper placement of this thermometer into an appropriate spot is the key to reliable readings.



Although it was a nice feature while it lasted, the red metal pointer quickly fell off and was never to be seen again. Outside of that minor setback, the thermometer performed admirably and accurately for almost a year. Recently though, the needle started spinning as the dial was rotated and had no correlation to the temperature it was supposed to measure.



The silver lining to the mechanical breakdown, and the reason why I rate this thermometer so highly, is Taylor's customer service. I sent Taylor's customer service an e-mail describing the problem and asking about their warranty process. Their reply was to ask for my mailing address so they could send me a replacement and to ask that I throw away the defective thermometer.



I can confidently recommend this Taylor product with four stars based on this great customer support, my prompt receipt of the replacement thermometer, and the consistent performance from this product.

While the unit ordered was TAYLOR it showed by TEMPRITE.

Unit failed after second use by the dial freezing at 160 regardless of whether in the oven or at room tmeperature.

I was attempting to replace a 40+ year old Taylor meat thermometer and was disappointed with the one I received. It was flimsy compared to my old one and the dial was not exactly as pictured. Of course, this one was made in China and my old one was made here in the US. The old things always seem better than their replacements.



I have returned the meat thermometer and will continue to search for one of the quality I had before.

I have used this for both indoor and outdoor cooking with chicken, beef, and pork. The dial is easy enough to read and it didn't fog up in the grill or the oven. The best endorsement I can give is that I just purchased my second one of these. I was thrilled with it until I used it to cook meat on the grill. The temperature jumped to "HI" and it never recovered. I was mad when it broke and didn't want to replace it, but I missed using it and eventually gave in and bought a new one. For oven use this is a great thermometer. I love that I can set the timer and the temperature. It saves you from over-cooked meat. I highly recommend this product (for indoor use!).

My sister talked me into purchasing this thermometer after I had a problem cooking a filet. I used it for a pork tenderloin and it came out perfect. You just put in the temperature you want the food cooked to and insert the probe and close the oven door. It beeps when it reaches the desired temperature. You can also put in a time that a recipe calls for and you'll know if it's done by the probe as well. I would buy this item again.

I like everything about this digital oven thermometer except the plastic coated cord on the probe. After 1st use my probe stopped working (maybe it was defective). Unfortunately, the probe is the one thing Polder doesn't warranty. I liked the features of this unit so much that I ordered 2 new probes from another company since Amazon doesn't carry the probe for this unit (at least I couldn't find it on their site). To my surprise, the new probes had stainless steel shielding all the way from where it plugs into the unit to the probe itself. Now this is how it should have been made to begin with. The replacement probes were genuine Polder products. Even with the added expense of the better probes I still plan on keeping this unit for a very long time.

My first one of these did a great job until, as others have noticed, that the numbers starting rubbing off. I wrote the company,and they sent me a new one. I checked the accuracy of it by putting it in boiling water. About the second time I used it, I was making candy, and after the usual amount of time to reach "soft ball" stage, the temperature was no where near that. So I took it off the stove and put a dab of it in cold water, and sure enough, it was soft ball stage. I threw the thermometer in the trash.

These are probably the easiest candy/deep-fry thermometers to find... too bad they don't live up to expectations. The numbers wear off quickly, and you'll get 1-3 uses before you're back to guessing what the temp is. It doesn't seem to matter *how* you wash them, the numbers will fade (if you use the dishwasher), or just wipe off (if you hand wash and dry).



I'm still on a search for the ideal candy/deep-fry thermometer; unfortunately this isn't it.
