It is only that.



I got this one a few weeks ago to replace the older one, that got water and broke. This one is very good n reading temperature and the probe is relatively thin, making a smaller hole in the measured meat.



My only complain and it is my fault, is that this one has no timer function. Something that I find extremely useful in the kitchen. It never mentioned that it does have one, so I don 't blame the company for that, but for the price you pay it is kinda expected. This is not however that I gave the three stars.



I find the temperature for the meats too hi. 175 for chicken is amazingly high. 160 for beef the same. Yes it will be done, but it will also be dry and tough. So if you are not going to folow the chart, then why not getting one with a timer.

Mine has worked great, but since I can't find the instructions I cannot use it to it's full potential. There is no way to set the low and high alarms by trying to figure it out. I don't think a 13 year old computer wizz who has a knack for finding dvd easter eggs could figure this thing out. Polder does not list one on their site, let alone trying to find this particular unit. Since I don't use mine, it's lasted for many years now. LOL

Used the setup four or five times, thought it worked great. Very happy with accurate, controlled roasting. Now the probe is somehow shot, says about 104 F at room temp, put it in my hand and gets close to 120 F.



Not nearly beefy enough probe/connections to withstand normal cooking/cleaning condtions.

This product came highly recommended to me so I purchased two; one for grilling and one for inside use. Anyway, one did not work at all and the other only worked once. Also, the recommended internal temps are too high so one would overcook everything if you followed the product!

I've only used this as a thermometer twice; once to calibrate it against boiling water and once to check the internatal temperature of a turkey I was smoking. I have been impressed with its accuracy and relatively quick readout response time. Note: you are paying extra for the Clock and possibly the timeer. In my experience it is the thermometer probe and its wire that break first. I got 2 probes/wires with this unit. If it continues to work this well for a year I would give it 5 stars.

Maybe you should not use these on a grill but I did and it failed the first time I used it. I even went as far as to insulate the probe cord with aluminum foil and it still died. I would not recommend buying this product. Amazon was very good about a refund.

I needed a small thermometer to use in making yogurt - particularly since some of my recipes required "cooking" first. This particular model is small, about 6 inches long and the face is about the size of a quarter, so it fits nicely in my silverware drawer.



It responds rapidly to measure the temperature, and it is easy to read. You should be aware that it only goes up to boiling for water, so if you need a candy thermometer, this probably isn't the one you want.

Absolutely love this thermometer! It has a very easy to read face with big numbers that are clearly set off from the background so my aging eyes can actually read it accurately. It is safe to leave in the roast while it is in the oven, and the large size makes it a snap to read through the oven door.



Has a silicon covering on the face that makes it easy to grip when pulling it out of the roast even if it gets greasy. Reads in C and F, and has a listing of safe temps listed at the base of the dial in case you forget what the target temp should be.



Also has a very long warranty - 12 years - but the catch is you have to mail it back and pay for return shipping. Chances are, it would be cheaper to just buy a new one. But, it seems well-built, so I expect that barring an accident such as dropping it in the garbage disposer, it should last a while. It comes blister packed, so it's a bit of a chore getting it out of the package.
